From the very beginning even before taking home our sweet Guinness, Ashleigh was so communicative and helpful with all of our questions about preparing to bring home our first puppy, and would send weekly updates on how the pups in the litter were doing. 

When it was time for our “gotcha day”, the minute we stepped on the farm to meet Guinness, it was obvious how well Ashleigh cares for every animal she raises - the farm is kept so nice and she was immediately calling us “mom and dad” to our new pup. Guinness the GMD has been the sweetest addition to our family. He is so incredibly smart, lovable, goofy, and has such a personality already at 13 weeks old. He is a pro at sit, wait, and down, and is learning new commands every day at home and through puppy socialization classes. Potty training was such a breeze and we’ve been so impressed with how well he does in the city - unaffected by loud noises and loves every person he meets (and every person loves him!). When one of our family dogs got sick and passed suddenly, Ashleigh understood when the timing was too close to getting a new puppy and she graciously worked with me to find a better time. The universe knew what it was doing because the sweet boy we ended up bringing home after giving our family time to heal has been the most wonderful thing to happen to our family. “I first stumbled upon Ashleigh and her farm on Instagram a few years ago and thought that her litter of puppies at the time were so cute! After some further looking into her profile, I was so happy to find that she was in Michigan and only an hour away. I immediately started following as I knew that one day I would have to get my own puppy from her. I was then able to follow along for a couple of years and see just how loved each and every puppy is at Roberds Farm. 

We joined the waitlist a little late to the party as our sweet boy had already arrived before we were on it, but Ashleigh was so responsive the entire time as we became familiar with the puppy process and as she answered any last minute questions that we had about raising a puppy. Every week we were so excited to hear more puppy updates and loved guessing who would be ours. We had last pick of the six boys and we would always try to guess who we thought would be ours but never could because every single one seemed so good and cute. Our time with Finch has gone so well and he learns so quickly. We have loved our time so far with him and just know that he will be the best boy! “Roberds Farm is the best of the best. After getting our puppy from Ashleigh & telling of our experience to our friends and family-it is evident that we picked an amazing breeder. The process of picking our puppy was so informative & intentional. Our puppy was potty trained almost immediately and we were sent home with food to get us through the first few days as well as a few other things to make the transition easier. “I have always had Bernese Mountain Dogs and love the breed dearly. After losing my last two Bernese to an aggressive form of cancer, I began looking into other options that might be right for my family. “I grew up with Golden Retrievers and have wanted my own for as long as I can remember. I spent months doing research and looking for a good breeder that matched everything I wanted in my dog. After searching and searching, I was lucky enough to find Ashleigh and Roberds Farm. The minute I looked at her page, I knew Ashleigh was the one I wanted to get my pup from. The immense care and time she puts into each litter is shown in how well adjusted and beautiful each of the past litters has grown into. I brought Finnegan home on June 23. He was from Oaklee and Gryffin’s Taylor Swift Eras litter. Although I ended up getting the pup I had my eye on since I saw their 2.5 week pictures, I know I would have been equally happy with any of the dogs. Finn is so well adjusted and has a great temperament. He constantly gets compliments on how gorgeous he is and how he just looks like a stuffed teddy bear. His puppy trainer even said she’s never seen another dog as good at reading social cues from others at this young of an age. “Where to start?! Ashleigh is by far the most kind, knowledgeable, and CARING breeder our family has ever come across. We had been searching for a Golden Mountain Dog for some time, and while researching came across the Roberds Family website. Her website alone gave more information than we’ve ever seen before. Before reaching out to her directly, we spent some time looking over her website. We looked at her previous litters, read from past adoptive families, looked at her breeding dogs, and loved that we could even look up detailed medical records of her pups without even having to ask! 

When we did reach out to her, we told her that we are a family out of Ohio, and have two younger girls and a 5 year old Golden Retriever. She responded almost immediately with follow up questions for us. The questions she asked proved to us that she actually cared about who her pups were going home to! After that initial interaction, we decided to place a deposit for one of her upcoming litters, from her sweet Bernese Kimber & her Golden Gryffin. Ashleigh kept us updated every step of the way during the birth, their first doctor appointments, and so on. We couldn’t wait to make the drive up to Michigan to pick up our girl. 

We picked up Willow, previously Nessarose/purple collar girl, from Ashleigh’s Wicked litter, on December 26th. She took us into her puppy area, where everything was clean and taken care of so nicely! We then went and sat with Ashleigh discussing paperwork and all puppy things! I’ve never heard of using pellets to help start potty training, but Willow has by far been the easiest pup to potty train since bringing her home. While at Ashleigh’s, we also got to meet Willow’s mom & dad, Kimber & Gryffin. She also let us meet her dog Dutton, who is from a previous litter of Kimber & Gryffin. All the dogs were beautiful, well behaved, and we could easily tell that they were loved & taken care of. 

Since being home, Willow has been amazing. In 3 short weeks she has learned numerous commands and tricks, I’d say (pretty much) completely potty trained, and is just overall the sweetest. She doesn’t bark a lot, and is great with our older Golden and our kids. She has been an all around wonderful and perfect addition to our family! 

We are beyond thankful for Ashleigh and the care that she puts into her puppies! When the time comes for us to expand our family again, Ashleigh will be the first person that we call. You cannot go wrong with getting a puppy from her!”

“Before I got my last dog, I had researched Bernese Mountain dogs. I loved the traits but their life expectancy was too short so opted to get a different breed. This time around I was going to get a Golden Retriever. That is, until I saw Golden Mountain Dogs. They are the best of both breeds. Likely a longer lifespan, but with the calm demeanor of a A Bernese Mountain Dog, great family dogs, and so cute! I knew I had to have one. My current dog, a Saint Bernard, was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at 3 years old. I love him more than anything, but I didn't want that again. I wanted a dog that I could have confidence about their health. Yet, Golden Mountain Dogs are a mixed breed. Most people don't do health testing for a mixed breed. Then I came across a post that mentioned Roberds Farm with multiple people commenting about how happy they were with their puppies that they got from Ashleigh, and she was in Michigan! I messaged her right away with questions, which she promptly answered, and I promised to get back to her when the time was right. When that time came, Ashleigh sent me a list a questions asking about our life and how we would care for the dog. When she was satisfied, I sent her a deposit and kept in touch. I had last pick of 3 boys. I wasn't worried though. After going over the website about 10 times I knew that even the last puppy would be perfect.

When it was almost time to pick him up we set a day and time for me to get him. Ashleigh had paperwork with everything we might need to know and set aside an hour to go over everything, meet the parents, a sibling from a previous litter, and our new baby. She gave us vet records, info on the parents (who are OFA tested!), she had us sign a contract saying if we ever couldn't keep our puppy that we would return him so he would never end up in a shelter. It also stated that we would get him neutered and that our puppy comes with a 10 day health guarantee. She told us that he was given heart, flea, and tick medication and a bath. We received a stuffed dog toy that smells like mom so puppy wouldn't be so scared when he left. She mentioned that she had already started the potty training process (which is going very well for us). We met the dam, sire, and a dog she kept from a previous litter. They were amazing! And I got to see where the puppies were kept (very clean). Then we brought our puppy home.

It's been about 4 weeks and things are great. He's had his check up and our vet said that Ashleigh did a great job with him. I can tell you, I've never spent this much on a dog, but I can definitely see a difference in how he acts versus other puppies I've had or met. He's so calm and gentle, doesn't jump, hardly barks, doesn't bite (teething), did great with fireworks on the 4th of July. He's loves other dogs. His nails were cut and shaped so if he were to jump it wouldn't scratch. I took him to our groomer just to keep up with his nails and get him used to it and he did amazing. You can tell Ashleigh had worked with them. This is seriously the best puppy I've ever had and absolutely everyone adores him. If you are looking for a Golden Mountain Dog, or even just A DOG to add to your family, Roberds Farm is the place to go. I can't say enough good things about the whole process and the puppy I got from them. You can tell they care and it makes all the difference.”

“I can't say enough about how wonderful Maple, our Golden Mountain Dog, has been for my family. When we came to visit the farm, it was like love at first sight. She very, very quickly picked us and has been incredibly lovey from the start. We drove up from North Carolina to pick her up, and she was a champ the entire way home -- she whined a little bit, especially at the start, but she warmed up to it quickly, and didn't have any problems actually being in our car with us. Since then she's warmed up to the whole family really quickly, and she's had a great time with other dogs whenever she's had the opportunity. She's even gotten good about letting us know when she needs to go outside. Sometimes she can be a little obstinate, especially when she gets her eyes on something she wants to put in her mouth, but overall she's extremely well behaved, if a bit rambunctious. He is beautiful and such an amazing dog. It is evident that Ashleigh had done some work with him during his first 8 weeks. He was comfortable with the vacuum from day one, he already knew the sit command. He aced his crate training right away. Only one night of minor protest. “We got our Golden Retriever at Roberds Farm after seeing they were in our area via Google. We thought their litters looked very cute, and not long after we were on the wait-list for one of the upcoming litters. Ashleigh answered our questions during that wait time, including figuring out some pickup scheduling issues we had. When it finally came time to pick our puppy, we had a good experience. We saw each puppy and got to play with them in a designated area, which allowed us to get to know them and figure out which one was the right fit for our family. Once we picked out Aloo, Ashleigh went over paperwork, answered all of our questions on next steps, and went over his vaccine schedules. We also met the mom and dad as well as some of the other siblings. One thing that we think stands out is how good the puppy's temperament has been. We began crate-training the same day we brought Aloo home, and within one week, he was already getting very comfortable in his crate. By the end of 12-weeks, we have been able to leave him in his crate without any issues to go run errands. He doesn't whine nor bark! He has had an easy time learning to settle down during quiet time. He also began learning a lot of commands quickly too (sit, down, stay, settle, off to name a few). He does have his moments of puppy energy, but at 13-weeks he seems much further along than we anticipated him to be! I think Ashleigh did a fantastic job with raising Aloo. He is so sweet and goofy, which is what we were hoping for from Gryffin and Indie's litter! “This was our first time ever buying a dog of our own and Ashleigh made the process so smooth and easy! We put a deposit down for our puppy and constantly checked the Instagram page for updates about our puppy since we knew Ashleigh was always updating the litter’s status there. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that in addition to the Instagram, she was personally texting us about the status of our puppy by giving us updates on all the vet visits, sending us photos of our puppy, and keeping us updated about everything else along the way. When it was time to pick up our puppy, Ashleigh brought us to the most adorable and cozy puppy barn to meet our puppy for the first time. Then we moved over to a second (even cozier) puppy barn to play with our new puppy and go over paperwork. Ashleigh made the paperwork super easy to understand and made the process very quick without feeling rushed. She was very thorough in explaining everything and going over the puppy’s first vet exam. When we had our first vet appointment, our vet’s assessment matched Ashleigh and her vet’s assessment exactly, so it was comforting to get reassurance on what we already knew; that our puppy was in great hands and very healthy before we got to bring her home.

The first few weeks with our Winnie girl have been so much fun! She is a little loveable ball of energy, and is not scared of anything. She loves meeting new people and going new places, and is completely unphased by anything around her. We have had loads and loads of snow in Traverse City this year, and Winnie has loved all of it. She loves jumping through the snow and specifically exploring the deepest parts. She loves to play with all her toys, always wants to be near us, and loves anything she even slightly thinks could be food. Crate training has been going so well so far and Winnie has slept through the night since she was 10 weeks old. She already knows how to sit, shake, and lay down, and is learning more and more every day. She is the sweetest, most loveable girl, and everyone who meets her falls in love.

We have loved the first four weeks of having Winnie and cannot wait for the many years of love and happiness she will bring us. We cannot thank Ashleigh enough for trusting us enough to let us buy and take home one of her perfect and gorgeous puppies!”

But he is also so friendly and well mannered to new experiences. Within the first week he was sitting, shaking, staying, and ringing a bell on the door to go potty and he is so eager to learn more! The potty training was also the easiest I have ever experienced with a puppy, it was a flawless transition!

"We stumbled onto Roberds Farm Golden Retrievers while researching puppies. I was immediately impressed with Ashleigh from the first time I contacted her. She's extremely knowledgeable, passionate, and loves every one of her dogs. She answered every single one of my questions before picking up our sweet baby. The first couple of months after we brought our baby home, my husband and I had lots of questions, being first-time dog owners, but Ashleigh was there to answer every single one in such a timely manner. “When I think about our perfect family dog, I think about Ashleigh’s Golden Retrievers from Roberds Farm. Our puppy, Lady, has been amazing since the day we picked her up. The love she was shown from an early age from Ashleigh is evident every single second of the day. We wanted a pup for our children to grow up with and be responsible for and we couldn’t have asked for a better dog! From the moment of first communicating with Ashleigh of our desire for a Golden, to the final paperwork, the process was seamless. “We got our Golden Mountain dog pup, LeeLoo, from Ashleigh at Roberds Farm, and it was clear from the first conversation that she isn't your typical breeder. Ashleigh spent a solid hour chatting with us and answering all of our questions. She helped us pick LeeLoo out specifically — she told us LeeLoo had the happiest tail and started wagging it much earlier than her littermates, and that she was the most mischievous of the bunch. This was exactly the kind of spirited personality we were hoping for.

You can tell Ashleigh's dogs are truly part of her family, not just a breeding operation. Every puppy is so well cared for, and that dedication shows in how they turn out. Thanks to Ashleigh's pellet training method, LeeLoo's transition to potty training at home was remarkably smooth. LeeLoo also showed no fear of loud noises, which was great because her first week home with us was the 4th of July. This speaks to all the exposure training Ashleigh does early on with the puppies.

LeeLoo blended into our family almost instantly — it only took a few days for her real personality to come out. We drove the 35 hours home to Montana with her, and somewhere along the way she found her voice: barking and howling at us in the car, until eventually we were howling right back at her. She's a vocal, expressive dog, and we love that about her. In only a few short weeks she's been able to learn so much. She already knows sit, down, come, and stay. We prefer off-leash walks in the woods with our dogs and rely heavily on recall. LeeLoo nailed it right away, and I could confidently take her out on the trail for short walks off-leash within the first month.

“We’ve always had Goldens, and were looking for a breeder after we lost our boy Aalto two years before. I had always been intrigued by a Golden mix and when we found Roberds online and then saw our first Golden Mountain Dog, we were immediately entranced!

First by Ashleigh‘s dogs and then by Ashleigh herself.

It’s obvious that Ashleigh loves her dogs and all her animal family but she also cares deeply about the pups she raises for all of us.  She has us convince her through a lengthy questionnaire that we are going to make the best family possible for one of her puppies. She is also excellent at communicating. We had a setback at one point because of a pregnancy that didn’t take and she kept us informed at every step. We never had to wonder what was going on and we knew exactly where we stood and the likely timing for getting a puppy. 

Milo has been home with us for 10 weeks now and he couldn’t be sweeter or more adorable. So far, he is very comfortable with loud noises and thunderstorms, which is due to Ashleigh exposing the puppies to those noises at an early age. This is such a wonderful gift!

“We drove from Cincinnati, OH to get our sweet Golden Mountain girl from Ashleigh at Roberds Farm. Ashleigh helped us to be very prepared for the experience of picking up our puppy from helping with hotel arrangements to buying the right puppy food. She was quick to respond with our questions during the weeks while we waited for our pup to be old enough to pick up. Ashleigh was so patient with us while we picked out our girl and she gave us the vet records and information needed to start us off right to raise a puppy. Her first vet check up was successful with a clean bill of health. Luna (our pup) is so smart and has caught on to basic commands very quickly. She is great with our kids and tolerant of the chaos around her. She is doing well with crate training and potty training. We are working with her on leash walking, but she is progressing and doing well. She is so friendly with all people and patient too. Thunderstorms and other loud noises like lawn mowers and hedge trimmers do not bother her.”
